Basingstoke is a town in northeast Hampshire that lies across a valley at the source of the River Loddon, it has a total population of around 83,662.
The town is often mistaken as a new town, but it was traditionally a market town that expanded rapidly in the 1960s. The area in and around Basingstoke is often nick-named Doughnut City due to the amount of roundabouts in the area.
