Burning portable toilet is a common problem – this one was done by a group of people who were camping nearby the loos at a sporting event. The toilets are set fire to and left to release a noxious, toxic smell of human waste, toilet chemicals and burning plastic, possibly the worst scented candle smell ever.

One toilet hire worker explains removing the remains once the flames had died:

“My coworkers and I were digging at them with shovels for hours. We eventually decided to loop a metal chain around the base frame of one and hook it to the tailgate of a pickup. The pickup drove off and the frame broke, freeing the chain, and the melted and rehardened plastic stayed in place. We eventaully got it up with a bulldozer.”

So, a ruined toilet, a hazardous smell, no toilet facilities for anyone and a way of making someone’s hard job even harder.
