Council give the OK for closed public toilets to be turned into homes

Some public toilets that we’re closed in April 2010 have been auctioned off to become two one-bedroom maisonettes.

The ex-toilets located in Ewell Village, Ewell (which measure 0.019 acres) were auctioned off by Epsom council in May for £68,000 and are now under ownership by an unknown buyer who bought the toilets for £80,000 in a pre-auction offer.

The council has agreed for residential development to take place on the site despite some outrage from local citizens.

The toilets were originally closed to save cash as the council were able to save £21,000 a year in maintenance costs.

Maybe Ewell Village is now in need of some hired portable toilets?

Portable toilet hire claims rejected in Lincolnshire

A claim that East Lindsey, Lincolnshire has insufficient public toilets was rejected at the annual meeting of the district council.

Councillor Jill Makinson-Sanders insisted that more toilets were required to meet the demand both of the local residents and visitors attending the various events and festivals planned for summer 2012.

She also suggested that the authority should consider portable toilet hire for use at events such as the SO festival in Skegness.

However portfolio holder for the environment Councillor William Gray insisted that the district was adequately covered.

Portable toilets needed in Somerset following closures

Dozens of public toilets across North Somerset could be closed, unless parish and town councils come up with a rescue package to save them.

Cashstrapped North Somerset Council – tasked with saving £47 million from budgets in four years – is currently looking at how the 29 public loos it currently owns can be run in the future.

Could portable toilets be the answer for the area?

Portable toilet hire with a difference…

Portable toilets are not always the most glamourous items of places, however, it seems as though Ikea may have changed that.

The Swedish company, working with Milan-based agency 1861 United, took normal portable toilet hire and used it as a front for a 200-square-foot, fully decked-out restroom.

From the outside, people thought they were entering a portable toilet but soon found out that it was a luxury suit – check out the video below to see their reactions…

Yorkshire flats left without water – is Leeds portable toilet hire maybe the answer?

Flats in Leeds have been without water for six days after a hairline crack in a main riser turned into a five-inch hole, severing supplies and causing a flood.

Residents say their main concern is their toilets, which they can only flush by carrying water from ground level in buckets.

With the problem yet to be solved, the only reasonable answer seems to be portable toilet hire.
